The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is holding its fourth annual Badges and Backpacks event, presented by Banner Aetna, on July 28 from 8 a.m.-noon. The event provides students in Pima County with a one-stop shop focused on equipping youth with a safe and healthy school year. This year’s event has been elevated to include a health fair, brought to you by El Rio Health, and extracurricular family and youth activities. It will encompass all three exhibit halls (A-C) at the Tucson Convention Center!

FREE BACKPACKS AND SCHOOL SUPPLIES – The Pima County Sheriff’s Department will be giving away backpacks filled with school supplies to the first 2,000 school aged children (K-12) who attend the event, compliments of Banner Aetna.

HEALTH FAIR – El Rio will be on-site to provide FREE immunizations, dental and vision screenings, on-site nurses and pediatricians, exercise activities, healthy snacks, and cooking demonstrations

SAFETY STATION – Fingerprinting, anti-drug task force, bicycle and helmet safety, stranger danger education, and gun safety.

FAMILY FUN ACTIVITIES & PROMOTIONS – Fun to read, animal and Desert Explorer activities, arts & crafts, giveaways,  and raffles. Local recreation organizations will also provide on-site activities and resources for youth.
